UPC Codes on Produce: Do you know what it all means?

To All my Dear Clients and Friends:

Produce carry a sticker called “price look-up codes (PLUs). These PLU Code stickers tell you the price and how fruits & veggies were grown. Organic: no synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Do not contain genetically modified organisms, and are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives. Organically: Starting with no. 9 Conventionally: Starting with no. 3 or 4 Genetically Modified: Starting with no. 8
